About this Plan

Hobby. A1 towline glider model. Wingspan 1350 mm.

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Update 16/04/2020: Replaced the instructions file with a better version, now split into 12 small pages in correct order, thanks to Kobus.

Quote: "Hi Steve/Mary, Lockdown can be a real PITA but it also gives us time to do things that keep our minds active. Attached is a reworked PDF of the instructions for the Hobby glider oz12087 that just puts everything in page order rather that 2 large sheets; for what it may be worth.
Free-flight models like the Graupner Hobby type design (complete with smoldering fuse/elastic de-thermalizer timer) was the intro into pre-RC gliding for me and many others. Maybe there is a German speaking modeler out there, who now has time, that will translate it into English for us :) Thanks again for all your sterling work! Kind regards,"

Update 4/4/2023: Added decals, thanks to Frank Schwarz.

Hi Steve &Mary. Here are some pictures of my Hobby (oz12087) work in progress [pics 007-010]. Elevator built, fuselage near finished and the wing middle section soon finished. More pictures will follow.

Hi Steve & Mary. Here are more pictures of my now finished Hobby [main pic, 012-015]. Made a set of lasered ribs. Covered the wings and elevator with paper and added the decals. It fly's very well. Please complete the instructions with the decals for the inscription for the Hobby. Kind regards,
Frank Schwarz - 04/04/2023
Graupner Hobby [pic 016]. This is my brother with our first model airplane. Free flight models brought us many happy hours in the nature (ca 1960).

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
