Simple Corsair (oz12080)
About this Plan
Simple Corsair. Radio control sport scale model, for .049 - .074 engines. Uses the Ace foam wing. Wingspan 36 in, wing area 190 sq in.
Quote: "Eyes will turn when you lanch the smal version of Pappy Boyington's bent-wing bird, the F-4U Corsair. After the Mustang, this is probably the most recognizable warbird of all time. Clever design makes the gull-wing easy to build. You can experience a Corsair without going to the effort and expense of the bigger models. In the air, you'd swear you were back in time with the Black Sheep Squadron patrolling the Pacific.
As the name implies, the Simple series is designed to be as simple to buid and fly as possible. An injection moulded foam wing and die cut parts that and cleanly cut literally fall together in afew hours of enjoyable assembly. When powerd by a 1/2A sized engine such as the Thunder Tiger GP-07 the airplane has great performance that is not mited by the airplane's small size and will surprise the pilot as well as the spectators. So if you want an airplane that is big on fun but small on frustration, so with the Simple Series."
Direct submission to Outerzone.
As requested on the Wanted page.
Note this plan used the Ace Foam wing. For a plan showing how to construct a replacement wing in balsa (both tapered and straight-chord) see Ace Foam Wing (oz8557) thanks to AndyKunz.

ScaleType: This (oz12080) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vought_F4U_Corsair
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
