There was some hoo-ha about this plan at the time because it was a tracing from a Mechanix Illustrated mag of 1938 with no acknowledgement - plagiarism. I don't have the details but you will probably hear form others because the story is quite well known.

It must be pointed out that this model was plagiarised by E. H. Clark direct from the pages of the American magazine 'Mechanix Illustrated' issue April 1939. It was actually designed by Mr Alan Orthof. Suitable chastisement was printed in the Editorial of February 1943 Aeromodeller.

The Editorial page of the February 1943 issue of Aero Modeller carried the following paragraph under the heading "Plagiarism . . . what's the great idea?"
On page 589 of the Christmas issue we published plans for building a small all-balsa model called "The Flying Wishbone", ostensibly designed by E.H. Clark.
Shortly after publication we received a letter from Mr. H. Wells, Hon. Sec. of the Boston Flying Modelling Club, enclosing pages taken from the American magazine "Mechanix Illustrated" for April 1939 in which "The Flying Wishbone" is fully described and designed by Mr. Alan Orthof.
Comparison of the plans in "Mechanix Illustrated" and the drawings sent us by Mr. Clark reveals that they were traced straight off the pages of the American magazine.
We are indebted to Mr. Wells for bringing this crude example of plagiarism to our attention and congratulate him and the members of his club on the library they have built up and from which they draw their reference to the original model designed by Mr. Alan Orthof. To this gentleman and to the proprietors of Mechanix Ltd. we tender our apologies for the unwitting reproduction of their plans. To Mr. Clark we are not sending any fees . . .

Interesting too is the initialling of the Aero Modeller re-draw for publication by W.A.D. - Bill Dean - already showing his distinctive style of modelling draughting.

This is a long, uphill battle. Plagiarism has been with us since the Peripathetical Hebrews copied the golden calf without proper attribution, and will remain with us while expanding exponentially through the internet. Some of us will keep protesting to the end of days but to our moral satisfaction only, if I may be so frank.
Outerzone takes the moral stand in stating "Credit to..." or "Found in...", but other places just pick OZ or Hippocket contents and publish them with no attribution at all. Worse, they baldly state "Scanned by us, haha", when OZ had published a direct contribution the very week before. I'm sad to see HP have lax controls and uncredited flotsam also shows up their beach.
What annoys me most is that this material is offered for free, and then is republished under a counterfeit label again for free! There being no material gain, then what is the point?

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
