Colibri (oz12010)
About this Plan
Colibri. Radio control sport model.
Quote: "Hi Mary and Steve; Here is the COLIBRI by Laser Modeles:
Wingspan 140 cm
Length 100 cm
Weight 1420 gr
Engine 1.5 to 4 cc
I use a 3.5 cc OS FP propeller 9 x 4.
In the mid-90s started Belgiche firm Laser Modeles but disappeared after 10 years. 50 years in the modeling world, I never saw such quality. This was the second Belgian modeling firm which disappeared after SVENSON. This kit I found at a swap meet for 20 euros. Thanks for Outerzone; Kind regards, Julien"

Thanks for adding the Colibri by Laser Models to Outerzone site. I have attached some pictures [model photo & more pics 003].JulienVermeire_Belgium - 17/03/2020
Hi Steve and Mary: This summer my hull broke in a crash; herewith two photos of the new hull under construction [pics 004, 005]. More success with the pumpkins, here next to the Colibri a 16 kg pumpkin. Thanks for Outerzone. Kind regards,

Hi Mary and Steve; Here my finished hull of the COLIBRI [pic 006], this time equipped with 4 cc OS FSR abc, a more powerful motor than its 3.5 cc OS FP, this motor is equipped with ball bearings. I always start my engines by hand, so without a starter. The OS engines start very easily, usually in less than 30 seconds. The hull weighs 50 grams less than the previous original built with the kit. Now waiting for a nice day in April 2021, then there are always some nice days. The Colibri is one of the best I ever flew, very manoeuvrable, can fly all figures easily. Not so easy, to build from the plan, but a good modelist should be able to do that. Kind regards from AALTER Belgium,

Hi Mary; here the finished Colibri [007-009], I still had to build the wing. Now just wait for the good weather, and then make the first flight. Colibri is one of the best model airplanes ever made. Kind regards;

This week the weather was beautiful here, so the new Colibri flew for the first time. The model adjusted a little bit, and it flew very well. Still, it is better with a 3.5 cc OS FP, the 4 CC OS TSR abc is a bit too strong. Too little power is not good, but too much is not good either. The 3.5 cc is the correct power. It is a pity that the engine is no longer for sale in the trade. So we have to wait to look up some exchange markets after the CORONA. Possibly I will find a 3.5 cc there. Kind regards from AALTER, Belgium.

Hi Steve and Mary; here the only catalog of LASER MODELES! [see supplement file]. You see the contents of a construction set. No other brand is so clean, complete and of the best quality! This was pure Belgian quality. A day and night difference with the construction sets of Svenson. Thanks to the laser machines, which cut the wood with exceptional precision. I saw the COLIBRI, built by a woman who has never built a model. Any non-model builder could successfully build this Colibri. Unfortunate with the arrival of the RTF models, Laser modeles disappeared. The best part of the hobby disappeared, building your own model. The modern model pilot is no longer a model builder, but a model buyer. Kind regards,

A very nice plan! Does anybody have the plan for it's bigger brother, the 67 inch wingspan "Ibis" as well?

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
