Der Kleine UHU Big (oz11900)
About this Plan
Der Kleine UHU Big. Radio control powered glider model. Wingspan 2100 mm.
Quote: "Hi Steve, you already have the 'Der kleine Uhu' listed on Outerzone. Actually there are two different version available on your site. The first and oldest is the Sonny (oz4229), probably with a slightly modified fin section. Years later, it was replaced by Der Kleine Uhu (oz4247), which became the Graupner 'Pilot' when also replaced by a later design.
'Der kleine Uhu' was not only a model, it was a country wide challenge organized over many decades in Germany. Very many glider and model pilots started their carrier building such a model.
In FMT, issue 27 (probably 1957), an enlarged RC version of Der kleine Uhu, now 'Sonny', with a wing span of 2100 mm was published. Plan and article are enclosed. Hope you enjoy reading the plan.
A happy new year 2020. With best wishes to you, Outerzone and everybody supporting you,"

Wing Span: 2700 mm =107.3"Relay in vertical fin so like early R/C pulse control.

Got it, thanks. Have set the wingspan, and tagged this one as RC now.

Doh. My mistake. I was reading the continental style figure '1' as a '7', so the correct wingspan is 2100 mm. That's 82.6 inches. Thanks to Harry Kirkland for checking this.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
