About this Plan

MOVO M-15. Free flight power model. Wingspan 2350 mm.

Quote: "Here attached the plan for Movo M-15. Not very clear, but very historical [note plan has now been cleaned up].

The boy that hold the plane [see more pics 003] is a very young Jaures Garofali, the father, founder and owner of Supertigre engines factory well renowned all over the world for their records. Behind him Eng. Valerio Ciampolini the designer of this plane, later famous for aeronautical engineering and inventor.

The plane here appears to be engined with a Brown JR, later re-engined with Osam G-9. Osam was the first name of Supertigre Co.

The model shows two nacelles under the wings with no mentioned function. In the plan label it’s indicated the model total weight and additional weight (700 grams) that probably was charged in the nacelles for payload contest. Very unusual considering the great fuselage volume to load. Never seen any other similar solution on Italian models. The model won in 1937 a duration contest with no fuel limit, flying for more than 30 minutes. Considering it doesn’t look a thermic floater I presume it flew always under power. Probably the additional fuel was loaded in the nacelles in order to avoid CG variation in flight.

The plan appears a little faded and should be re-inked, please note the slotted stringers on fuselage corners to create a T spar, this model was described as a composite construction."

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Note the advert scan [more pics 005] is from the 1937 MOVO catalogue.

Note this plan has been split into 2 sheets, down the centre line. I was trying to keep as much detail as possible during the cleanup, so the finished plan has come out at a very large pixel filesize being at 400 dpi, and being 78 inches wide. Have spilt this into 2 sheets just to make it easier to open and to read. If you need a one page version (at lower res), then see the supplement file. Steve.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
