Quote: "Hi Steve. I send you this plan of a glider called Alfa, which I have recovered from my father's files. I know almost nothing about this, except that it was sold in 'Casa Reyna' in the 50s. As you can see it is a complicated construction model and I have no more details or photos. Greetings, Fernando González. Toledo (Spain)."

Hello Steve, I found Fernando González's Alfa blueprint on Outerzone. I really liked the model with its elegant lines. I downloaded the Alfa blueprint and studied it. For my purposes, I enlarged the model from 195 cm (77 inches) to 350 cm (137 inches). This gave me more options for installing the RC components in the fuselage. Since I fly a lot in flat terrain, installing an electric motor was also a must. After a lot of tinkering, I now have an Alfa that flies very well. The model was built from pine wood and lightweight plywood. Its flight characteristics are exhilarating; the Alfa can fly very slowly in thermals, but also quickly in windy conditions on slopes. Its strength also allows for aerobatics, but this does not suit the model.Attached are a few pictures [main pic, 003-009] of the shell and with the covering before the maiden flight... It should be mentioned that experience in wood construction is necessary for building, as the model has practically no straight lines.
Best regards, Eric

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
