Quote: "Building Instructions for the DOHLE Model Glider. General: Before you begin building the DOHLE model glider you should read the instructions carefully. To build this model you will need a straight flat building board, fine sandpaper, a fretsaw, a sharp knife, a razorblade (preferably single-edged), straight pins, a set square or right-angled triangle, a small hammer and a small pair of pliers.
Glue or tack the sandpaper to a small block of wood. You can build the model directly on the plan, but we recommend you lay greaseproof or wax paper over the plan first to protect it from glue and cement.
If you build this model carefully and accurately, it will reward your efforts with many wonderful flights.
Fuselage assembly: Pin the plan flat on the building board and lay greaseproof or wax paper, over it. Make sure parts 1 and 2 fit snugly together before cementing and pinning them down on the plan to set.
Fit formers 4-12 into the slots in the sides and cement them in place. Add part 3 to the fuselage rear and hold it in place with a colthespin until set. Make sure that the two sides are parallel to each other as viewed from the front when you are assembling the fuselage. Cement part 13 in place as shown on the plan.
Add the two crosspieces (14) to top of former 7 and the bottom of former 8. Check to see if formers 4-8 are flush with the top and bottom of the fuselage sides, if not, sand them lightly with a sanding block; do not bear down hard, as balsa wood is very soft and esay to work. Fit fuselage top and bottom (15and 16), cut to size and cement to the sides and formers.
Pin the planking in place until thoroughly set. Cement longeron (17) in formers 10-12, and the four noseweights (18) to former 12. When thoroughly set, sand longeron 17 smooth until it is flush with the formers. Add top planking strips (19) so that they join on the centre of longeron 17. Make sure that the six bottom planking strips (20) fit snugly before cementing them in place. Begin at part 14 and add the strips so that they join under the keel (part 13), forming a wedge.
Cement the tail platform (21) between the sides and parts 3 and 4 so that it is flush with the top of the cutout for the tail. Add part 22, which supports the dummy pilot, between formers 9 and 10. Sand any excess planking flush at former 12 and cut out the two noseblocks (23) with a fretsaw. Hollow out a space in parts 23 with a knife to take the noseweight. Complete this assembly by cementing parts 23 to part 13 and former 12.
Sand the whole fuselage well, making sure that all parts are flush, and shape the noseblock 23 to its final form (see plan view on the drawing).
Cut out the dummy pilot from the side of the box lid; cement the pilot parts together and add the pilot to the middle of part 22... "

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
