The man holding the Pixy in the photo is Bruce Augustus, former editor of SAM Speaks. SAM lists the date as 1938, which would qualify it as an Antique.Tom - 09/07/2021
The picture was probably taken at the 2005 SAM Champs held on El Dorado Dry Lake. Another SAM Member Jack Jella also did a beautiful rendition of the Pixy. It's a nice model, although I suspect it has one of those Schumacher loved hollow box spars. Those spars are a pain to build--and it takes a dedicated and good modeler to build one.

In 1939, a drawing of the Pixy was “prepared” by Frank Zaic. Zaic’s 1939 drawing of the Pixy was not published until the year 1980 in the 1980 reprinting of the “1934 Junior Aeronautics Year Book”. The Pixy is on page 117 in the 1980 reprinting of the 1934 Year Book. Thus, in SAM’s gas listing of Pixy, in the publisher column, you see “Zaic/34 pg 117”. On the last page in the 1934 Year Book, there is an index of model plans appearing in it. In this index, there are listed nine gas model plans under the heading “PLANS PREPARED IN 1939 BUT NOT PUBLISHED”. Those nine gas models are: (1) Pixy, by R. Schumacher, p.117… (2) Rebel, by P. Bowers, p.118 … (3) Udet Flamingo, by P. Bowers, p.119 … (4) Vee Tailed Swallow, by R. Lowe, p.120 … (5) Punkin’s Seed, by G. Sherman, p.121 … (6) Floridian, by L.M. Adams, p.122 … (7) Southern Star, by E.A. Ross, p.123 … (8) Miss Nomer, by J.D. Cameron, p.124 … (9) Ellipseloid, by L. McLarty, p.125. Also featured in the 1934 Year Book is the original plan of Rodger Hammer’s 1937 JASCO Flamingo gas model, drawn by Zaic. The JASCO Flamingo plan is located on the last page of the 1938 JASCO products catalog, which is featured in the 1980 reprinting of the “1934 Junior Aeronautics Year Book”.

An updated plan and laser kit are available from BH Plans: http://bhplans.com/GMPg3.html
It looks like Bruce didn't sheet the fuselage in that photo.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
