About this Plan

Mitey Atom. Free flight novelty for Cox .010 power.

Quote: "The Mitey Atom, from AeroModeller December 1961, just popped up in the latest issue of 'Sticks and Tissue', so credit to them for the scan. I just did the colour to greyscale transform and cleaned up a few stray pixels. The scaling can be determined from the Cox .010 fuel tank mounting plate, which is 1-1/32 inches. Yes, I have one in my collection, just measured it."

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Note it seems there never was an article printed with this one, just the plan on its own.

Nice work. I've sometimes found myself wondering about adding a vectored electric motor to the front of vintage free flight models (I was thinking more of rubber scale models) and how effective that would be as a control system. That way I could just build the original airfarme, no need to add control surfaces, just add a motor unit, inc battery and Rx, onto the front of an unsullied model. Have you flown this yet?

What size motor, prop, and battery did you use on yours? Thanks in advance! Ken in Idaho USA

Here in Sweden it is winter, cold and lots of snow. Model flights have to wait until May!

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
