Jimmie Allen Thunderbolt (oz11332)
About this Plan
Jimmie Allen Thunderbolt. Rubber sport model.
Quote: "Instructions For The Assembly of the Jimmie Allen 'Thunderbolt'. The JIMMIE ALLEN 'THUNDERBOLT', a parasol monoplane, is a light, stable Miniature airplane capable of taking off and flying under its own power. The rudder and wing are adjustable and consequently this plane can be made to fly in a straight line or to describe circles in either direction. For outdoor flying about five loops of rubber should be used, and for indoor work three loops are sufficient to obtain good duration with minimum altitude.
Features of this model are the crash proof propeller mounting, parachute and bomb release mechanism. Watch your Jimmie Allen Club News for complete information on the construction of the parachute and bomb which are not included In this kit. The completed model should weigh not less than one ounce and not more than two ounces when equipped with a three loop rubber motor. After checking the bill of material to be sure that you have all the required parts, you are ready to commence work.
Important Note: Do not attempt any construction work until you have read these instructions through carefully and have studied the drawing and photographs. Precision and accuracy are of paramount importance in model work. Use a sharp, single edged razor blade or balsa wood splitting knife for all joints and be sure that each is a perfect fit. Allow all cemented joints to dry thoroughly before handling. All balsa members, particularly those used in building the fuselage, should be sanded slightly to a smooth finish..."
Quote: "Hi Steve and Mary - Finally, I have been able to scan the copies of the original Country Club Aero Supply Jimmy Allen Thunderbolt 24 inch rubber powered model. I enlarged this plan to 48 in and built it for electric RC.
The plan story: My friend, the Late Charles F. Schulz, had a hobby of restoring old model plans and offering copies for sale at a very low price. He enjoyed most seeing a model built from his plans. This plan and instruction is a copy I received from him in the early 1990s."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
