About this Plan

Crosby CR-4 (1938). Rubber scale model racer.

Scale subject is the the Crosby CR-4 all-metal Menasco C6S-4 powered 1930's pylon racer, built by Harry Crosby, which competed in 1938 and 1939.

Quote: "Thirty years ago the CR-4 was drafted into model form by master modeler Pres Bruning. His drawings, reproduced here, were part of a set of race plane rubber-powered model plans sold in the 1970s by a Detroit area model club, the Cloudbusters. The markings show the CR-4 as it appeared at the 1939 National Air Races. These plans are available on the web at Other airplanes included in the series are the Folkerts SK-2, Floyd Bean, Chambermaid, and Smirnoff Bearcat. The site, maintained by modeler Dave Livesay, features a number of free flight model airplane drawings." - from

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
