Panther (oz10691)

Panther (oz10691) by Phil Smith 1950 - plan thumbnail

About this Plan

Veron Panther. Control line stunt model. Wingspan 41 in, wing area (inc flaps) 310 sq in. Weight (with Amco 3.5 cc prop and spinner etc) 17 to 18 oz. For 55 to 62 ft lines.

Note: Photo of completed Panther model is taken from the 'Vintage Perspective' article in Aeromodeller Nov 2016, written by Don Howie and Ian Smith (no relation).

Quote: "Perhaps the best stunter designed by Phil was the 41 inch span 'Panther' developed in 1950/51. Designed for diesels of 3.5cc or glo's of 5cc to 6cc capacity, Ian Smith thinks it is a fantastic stunt model. The model built by Ian has an AMCO 3.5cc ball bearing diesel fitted and is a great looking model. Today, the lack of undercarriage might make judging takeoff and landing interesting in some Vintage Stunt competitions."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
