Hi, Mary and Steve. Today I'm sending you an article on the Goldberg Sailplane, which appeared in the Argentinian magazine Aeromodelismo, in its December 1949-January 1950 issue [see supplementary files]. The article headline reads: "Fulfilling our promise to present you the best in each category, today we offer with great pride the 'Cadillac of D Class', By Carl Goldberg" And then goes on: "Few models have become so famous around the world as Carl Goldberg's Sailplane, and we believe that a great many modellers are anxiously waiting for an opportunity to build it."alcalaino - 02/11/2016
Hi Mary, I hope you and Steve are well. Please consider the attached photos [main pic, 007-009] of my Goldberg Sailplane for placement on the oz1058 page with the other nice photos on the page. The photos were taken late last March by Terry Dunn, the ELECTRICS columnist in MODEL AVIATION magazine. The plane was built by the late, I think, George Wills of Tonawanda, New York quite some time ago. I did not know him. The plane was given to me about 4 years ago in decent condition. I made a few minor repairs, patched the red silk in a few places, installed three newer servos, and a receiver. I made some new engine bearers to fit the Merco .40 to the stamped aluminum engine mounts and installed a 2+ ounce control line tank against the firewall behind the Merco. After a flight or two I learned why Carl Goldberg called it the "Sailplane" - it doesn't need much lift to stay in the air for a long time after killing the engine. I make sure to check the latest additions to the Outerzone site daily. Great work!! From Buffalo, NY,

Martin, I have two comments:
I) catchy multi-exposure effect;
II) you have chosen a very attractive colour scheme, my compliments :-)

Thanks, I took a picture of my friend's model.

John Woodfield has converted the design into an actual slope soaring sailplane! Have a look here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tkcg-ZomlA

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
