Hello Mary, hello Steve, the restoration is almost complete [main pic, 004, 005]. My Simprop carpet should fly again after many years. This time with an electric drive. Everything is ready for a "magic electric carpet ride". Many greetings,
Bernhard Dittmann - 25/04/2022
Hello Mary, hello Steve, today was the first flight. Nice weather, little wind, ideal for a "magic carpet ride". Here are the pictures [pics 006-011].

Hello Mary & Steve, This looks like a lot of fun and I wonder if Bernhard would like to post details of his electric set up and the total weight of the model. I downloaded the plan last Friday. Regards,

Hello Hello, nothing easier than that. As I said, it is a model that has emerged from the original Simprop kit from the 1970s. The current takeoff weight is about 1.6 kg. The fuselage, or rather the wing, is built from a wooden frame (approx. 110 cm x 50 cm). The bottom is covered with a plastic adhesive film and the top is covered with paper and painted. The figure has a height of 40 cm. The engine protrudes about 10 cm over the fuselage. The 4 S drive consists of a 4,500 mA battery, a size 50 controller and a size 40 Pulsar electric motor. That sounds a bit heavy, but in terms of weight it replaces the 6.5 ccm 2-stroke engine quite well. The center of gravity, approx. 5 - 10 mm behind the treasure chest, is reached without additional lead.
Many greetings,
Bernhard Dittmann - 15/05/2022
Hello Bernhard, Thank you very much for that detailed information, it will be most helpful. Regards,

Hello Graham, I forgot that. The carpet is not a glider. It's a good idea to switch off the engine just before landing.
Many greetings,

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
