Checking the page size of a PDF plan
Summary
To check the full size (ie page size, when printed) of a PDF plan, use your PDF reader software.
Details
Knowing the size of a plan is important if you want to print it to paper. You need to know how large the paper has to be to fit the whole plan at full size. We call this 'Page Size' or 'Paper size'. Your PDF reader software will show you this.
Here is a real world example. Let's say we are interested in the Bill Dean Eagle (oz11299) plan. We are using a Windows 10 PC, and we have installed Acrobat Reader as our PDF reader. (For more on PDF software, see Software to read PDF files).
Here's how to check the page size:
- Download the PDF plan file Eagle_65in_oz11299.pdf from https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=11299
- Open the plan in Acrobat Reader.
- Use the top menu File>Properties (image #1) to display the Document Properties window (image #2). Page Size is shown under the main Description tab.
In this example, the Page Size shown is: 48.62 x 34.89 inches. This is the size of the Eagle plan, when printed out at full size.
