Red Star. Rubber sport model. Quote: "Lubomir Koutny re-discovers a fine-flying Czech Old Timer. When I visited Brno for the first time in 1953, I found a very interesting book called FLYING MODELS. It was a Czech translation of the Russian original. It was to become a big inspiration for me, because I was then just a young boy from a village, out of any contact with a model club. I used plans from this book to build several models. The best was a rubber-powered job. The ancient, unnamed model, had been built by the young boys at training at the Moscow Pioneer House. I have to say that the quality of my building wasn't very good. I had problem getting building materials. A local joiner promised to cut some lime longerons for my model, but only on condition that I would first make the propeller to a high standard. I took a lot of time to make that prop, believe me. On Sunday afternoon, I had go to the local pub to buy some beer. Because the joiner played cards with my father in this pub, I took my newly finished prop there to show him.The joiner looked at the prop very carefully, and then told my father: Joseph, I know that you want your son to be an electrician, like you are. I don't know if he would make good electrician, but I can tell you this, if he became a joiner, he would be an expert! This propeller is perfect, I couldn't make a better one myself! The model turned out to be a fantastic flyer. I even had to make other props for my friends, who also built one, too. As it was unnamed, we boys christened it 'Krasnaja Zvezda' (Russian for Red Star). Two years ago, my good Slovak friend, Dusan Sedlar, entered the Czech Oldtimer Nationals. He enjoyed himself so much that he said: Lubos, you'll have to build some Oldtimer, and enter this nice meeting next year, with me!" Quote: "Red Star. A Czech Old Timer. Built and flown by Lubomir and Peter Koutny. Wingspan 800mm. This drawing was made using reduced plans in magazine IFMD and C Spring 2000, Aviation Modeller Int Oct 2000, and drawing and information from Lubomir. Drawn by Terry Rose Feb 2001" Scan from DBHL, cleanup by theshadow. ref DBHL- 6102. Direct submission to Outerzone.
